Just one more installment regarding the new issue of STYLO magazine. If you haven't had a chance yet to check it out, I hope that you will. Tons and tons of inspiration packed into the pages of that issue. And paper dolls! Plus fresh clothing tutorials.
This is a Geranium Dress, which you may have already guessed. This one has been in the planning stages for some time. I had meant to make it for Winter KCW but I'm glad that I waited because the fabric and color has just the right vibe for the chilly spring weather around here.
This was the first time that I made the dress using the little flutter sleeves. I always avoided them because I didn't think that they would fit very well under a sweater (which is almost always necessary around here) but it turns out that they work fine that way and I really love that detail. It adds a definite fairy quality to the frock (the word frock here is a nod to my brilliant buddy from Down Under - check out her post today about the Geranium).
I used a Nani Iro print that I got from here plus some leftover stretch tulle from this combo that I made last winter.
This may be the garment that I am most proud of making ever. My sewing room is actually strewn with other garments that were meant for the magazine - new patterns that were sweet but just didn't come together as well as the Geranium does. This dress was made totally last minute and ended up being totally perfect for the day. Ms. Rae is a dress making wizard and yay for us that we get to enjoy the spoils.
